You asked what is an Avatar Master. Well, if you google it, you will find such negative descriptions as cult, fanatical sect and mind control. : ) In reality, it is learning to use powerful tools that "transform the invisible, hidden aspects of creation into deliberate experience and integrate belief structures that would otherwise remain transparent. Benefits of this training include:
• Gaining an experiential certainty on the workability of the Avatar tools and the unlimited potential of universal awareness.
• Sweeping away persistent creations and conditions.
• The ability to help others by becoming a successful graduate of The Master Course and becoming eligible for a one-year provisional license to deliver The Avatar Course (number one self-development course in the world) in accord with current Star’s Edge policies.

I have not yet entirely completed the Masters Course, so I am not licensed to teach the methods I have learned for my own use. Eventually, I would like to incorporate some of these wonderful techniques for self empowerment and emotional freedom in my Life Strategies Coaching Work. So, I will work toward getting that official "go-ahead" so that I can do so.
You know, it is interesting that there are dozens of other groups that also try to help people with uncovering their unconscious beliefs that hold them down (usually stuff from our childhood that we have completely buried deep in our subconscious) and yet are not criticized quite so severely. Maybe if these other groups were just as effective as Avatar, then they would be also labeled as "Spooky and cult-like". : )
